Green

This is a painting of my late grandpa. I wanted it to be full of color to mirror the twinkle in his eye. I enjoyed using painterly unblended strokes on this piece, which I feel helps to give it life. The two chickadees were added because he often talked fondly about drawing chickadees as a young man and as a nod to my grandma who took great pride in feeding the birds and caring for her gardens. My goal was to capture his quiet gentleness. For a moment when I look into his eyes, he's back. I love how art can give such an amazing gift.
