Sunday Hike

Soft pastels and Pastel pencils on Pastelmat. Using soft pastels, I blocked in the basic composition paying attention to values. I kept building on the shapes to get the textures I wanted. I was hiking with my daughter and her boyfriend (and my granddog!) when we came upon this dappled path. I asked them to go ahead of me so I could have people in my composition. I love the purple grays of the mountains in the distance to the dappled path they are walking on.
