Still Life with Zinnias and Fruit

My pastel seeks the intersection between drawing and painting. While emphasizing color and shapes, I want to celebrate the drawing experience of pastels. I am inspired by the beautiful marks and luminous colors that are possible with this medium. Rather than recreate a photograph, I alter perspective, add graphic lines, bright colors and pathways of light to move the eye around the picture plane.
