This pastel piece is inspired by our attachment to our phones and our escapist tendencies during much of our waking lives, many oblivious to the world -- our eyes glued to our screens. However, I wanted this drawing to be light-hearted, and more concerned with a striking design and a fun narrative. I composed the piece imagining this gentleman was on his way home from a great date with that slight smile forming on his face, and though very calm on the outside he was excitedly deleting his Tinder app because he met someone. It's created with a variety of soft pastels sticks as well as Stabilo Carbothello pastel pencils on suede mat board.
