Cosmic Jewel

Commissioned portrait of a mare named Jewel. Inspired by her owner's description her mare as a "red dragon horse" I envisioned the concept of the dragon nebula, and the cosmos. I created the background nebula first with reds, then the horse with the strong sense of light and drama, as if the horse is emerging from the nebula, or going back into it.
